Photos of the Gallipoli Battlefields, the place of one of the bloodiest battles in history. In 1915, the Ottoman Empire was aligned with the Germans. The allied forces, including the British and French military, as well as the Australia and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC), fought the Turks for control of this peninsula. Under the command of Mustafa Kemal, later called Ataturk, the Turks finally prevailed, but only after both sides suffered an unimaginable number of casualties.
