This Istanbul mosque was built in 1561 by the great architect Sinan, for Rustem Pasa, the son-in-law and grand vizier to sultan Suleyman I. It was richly decorated in the finest quality Iznik tiles, and the bazaar around it was intended to pay for the mosque's upkeep.
