Hi all,

My husband, British citizen is planning to go to TRNC for a few weeks. He comes to Turkey with a free 90 days visa which will be expired in a few weeks. Does anybody in this forum know if that 90 days free visa will start again when he returns from TRNC or not?
Any thoughts will be helpful. Thanks

Hi Nur,if he's been here for the full 90 days as a tourist,he must be out of Turkey prior to the 90th day & stay out for 90 days before returning.. Hence why it's known as 90/180....90 days allowance in every 180 days .

Just wanted to clarify something... Are you saying that his visa will be past its expiration date? Not the number of days in Turkey it allows (90 days), but the end of Its validity period of 180 days?

Hi Ken

He came on 19/6 and he’s planning to go to TRNC just before 90 days visa is finished. Planning to stay there a few weeks. When he comes back to Turkey, will he get a new 90 days visa at the airport or not?

Just to explain further, his visa will expire 180 days after the day he bought it. It's the same as a driving license expiring. It can't be used any more no matter how many days he's been in Turkey. So once his visa reaches its expiration date, he must leave Turkey, get a new visa, and re-enter Turkey.

With a valid visa, even if one expires, he leaves Turkey and re-enters with a second visa, he still can only be in Turkey for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. This 180 days has nothing to do with the expiration date of the visa. it's a range of days which includes each day counting back 180 days from whatever date 'today' is.

For more information about how the 90 in 180 days thing works, see this article:
