How long will it take for the application to be approved after the appointment date these days (assuming all the documents are complete)? I have difficulties in renting apartment. Can I use long term airbnb booking as evidence? Thanks

I don't know how long it will take, but it will be less than 90 days, since that's the legal amount of time they have to approve or reject a residence permit.

You can't use an Air B&B unless the property is a hotel, or if the actual owner of the property is willing to give you a one-year rental contract. If it is a hotel you can use it, but only if you are looking for a place to rent or buy for at least a year. I called the immigration office about this a few weeks ago and they said you must get a permanent place to stay for at least a year.

Thanks Ken for the clarification. We are currently staying in a hotel and we are supposed to have appointment next week. We plan to bring a letter from the hotel since we are struggling to find an apartment to rent. Will our application be processed using the letter from the hotel?

Thanks

I've verified with the immigration office that they can issue a foreigner up to a two-year residence permit while staying in a hotel and looking for a place to live. So it's a good thing you're in an actual hotel. They also said, though, that it will always depend on what the immigration specialist decides. Once you find a place to live, you have 20 business days to report your change of address to the immigration office.

Yes, you should cancel. That will free up the appointment time for someone else to use. You can easily apply again when you get back. I hope you can get the problem sorted out easily.
