Jason 0
Hi everyone, just wondering if any greenthumbs can identify this sweet-smelling flower. These pictures were taken by me in September in a front yard in Ankara. Thanks in advance.
Cukurbagli 518
Hi Jason, the first one is a honeysuckle, the second one might be too but I'm not sure. Chris
Sunny 779
I agree with you Chris that the first one is honeysuckle but the second one looks a bit like stock.
aliwake 1
I agree with honey suckle and the second one reminds me of the white jasmine that is rampant in Charleston South Carolina. And it smells heavenly.
Sunny 779
I don't think it's Jasmin as the jasmin flowers are more star like and the stems are finer.
Jason 0
Thanks all, I looked at a few google pics of Honeysuckle and it looks like it. Still working on the second (I was also told it was Jasmine).
saffron 87
I'm almost sure they are Jasmin. There are some seven or eight species of Jasmin, but I'm not sure which is the one above. Honeysuckle has a lovely name in Turkish: hanımeli, meaning 'lady's hand'.. Those lady hands are the princess of the humble gardens of Ankara..
prpldrgn 0
at first i thought the 2nd one was winter jasmin, but on zooming in it does look more like honeysuckle, the sweet smell rules out climatis
