Hi everyone,

I hope you're having a better day than me! Today a guy came by I guess from city services and cut off our water, he handed us a bill, said SICILSIZ SU KAPAT! I thought he cut off the water because of payment but he didn't want payment, he kept repeating "sicilsiz" I called the landloard again and all the numbers I got from them and again no one picked up. It's Friday and I guess if there is a problem it won't be sorted out until Monday that's the earliest, What should I do??

Hi,

I am not sure but as a tenant the electricity or water  bill should be  registered behalf of your name. That is newly law..Please check it in this way..

Is it written any debt on the bill?

Thank you for your response mali35, No there is no debt on bills, I have just applied for kimlik, my appointment is at the end of this month, so I don't have a kimlik yet. I have rented furnished to avoid this problem until I get my kimlik. Would it be a problem for my landloard to keep the bills on his name you think? Or do I have to live without water until I get my kimlik.

Hi Bibatulips,

My uncle is a tenant for 3 years. About 5 or 6 months ago he received an official paper from electricity company which was saying he should takeover the registration of the bill from the landlord. So he did this applying to the company , paid takeover fee. As a Turkish citizen he did it very easyly.

I am not sure how it works for you unless you are not a citizen.  It'd better to visit the company with your landlord.

Regards

Thank you again mali35,

Ok I see, so this basicaly means that we are in big trouble. I find this weird to just show up one morning without notice and cut off water supply. The guy was kind enough to come back and check to see if we were able to reach the landloard, he was still unreachable, so he gave us until Monday to sort the paperwork, if not he will cut it off again.

Update: So sicilsiz basicly means that the property is unregistered, this happened because my appointment water bill was under my landlord's husband name, and once they got divorced he cancelled his water subscription, and thus the was company came and cut the water. Solution: contacted landlord after tried to explain, luckily I had taken the number of water company worker, they called him and explained, a week later with a lot of fuss from my side to get the paperwork sorted, she went registered her property under her name, and somehow I had to pay for all her expenses or else she was going to cut the water because apparently she is doing me a favour because I don't have kimlik yet. So basically blackmailed me into paying yet another few hundreds non refundable deposit.

Note: I'm not writing this to rant, this is purely for educational purposes, so please learn before you burn.
