I booked a flight in the morning, headed for Kuşadası to stay with friends through the holidays. I'm really looking forward to it. While I like Antalya, a change of place for a while will do me good.

My flight from Antalya to Izmir (I then take the bus to Kuşadası) was ony $19 USD! That's less than I used to pay for a taxi to the airport.

Congrats Ken, you will still pay more for the taxi though. Airport taxis are a scam in Izmir with the two light system, night rate during the day. I used to take the taxi to the local Migros and then pick up another on the day rate to take me home. But I do have a Scottish wife!

I thought there was no longer a night rate. Thankfully the AntRay light rail system has a stop near my house, and it now goes all the way to the airport. Taxi fair is around 45 TL ($12 USD) now, with the dollar now trading around $1 USD to 3.5 TL.

Just take the Havas...or in your case the metrorail?

Havas cost is 10tl...it takes a little while longer to get into town...but hey its cheap!

What is the cost of the metro rail?  And if you get on @ Menderes, what stops are there close to say Hilton?

In Antalya, there's only one Havaş bus stop, and it's a long way from where I am. The Antray stop is just a few blocks away. I think it costs something like 2.50 Lira to go anywhere along the line, including the airport. I never really look at the price, I have the transport card and just top it up when it gets low.

In Izmir, you can take the İzban light rail from Adnan Menderez Airport to the Hilal stop, then change over to the metro at Hilal. Then take the metro to Çankaya. from Çankaya you can walk to the Hilton.

I know a travel company in Kuşadası which provides transfers to Ephesus and also Izmir. I'll send you their contact info.

Taxis are desperate for business right now, they have posted prices for a trip to Izmir at the taxi stands, but you can bargain it down to half of that price. If they say no, just start walking away and they'll quickly agree.

There are buses, but you'll need to take a taxi to the bus station, then buy a bus ticket. Then take the bus to the Izmir bus station, which is quite a distance from town. Then you would have to take the Izban light rail (changing trains along the way) to get to city center.

That would be a total pain in the neck.

So what I would suggest is that you take a taxi. The taxi will take you and your family to exactly where you want to be, with no hassle.

Every taxi stand lists its rates for a trip to Izmir on a sign. DO NOT PAY THE FULL PRICE. You can talk the price down, quite a lot, because taxi drivers in Kuşadası are pretty desperate for business right now, regardless of what they might tell you.

If they won't bargain, walk away to go to another taxi or taxi stand then they will call you back and agree to your price. I took a taxi from Kuşadası to Izmir and paid less than half of the list price, and the taxi driver was quite happy with it.

Thank you so much, but what will be a decent price for a taxi for 5 persons? should we pay in euro or ? do they accept credit card? so we don't need the make arrangement prior it will be safe (sure) that we will find a taxi?

I really appreciate your help.

I changed my topic, looks like you posted while I was doing it! :)  I don't recall the price. The price is the same no matter how many passengers (don't let them tell you different).

I was thinking that a taxi, even a larger vehicle, might be a little crammed. You can also get a minibus from one of the local travel companies. Also that way you could book it in advance. This particular one does shuttles to Ephesus and also to Izmir. I'll send you their contact info.

I sent you a private message with contact info of a travel company which can pick you up at the cruise ship terminal and take you to Izmir.
