Rüstem Paşa Camii

Oh man, today I went with a friend to the Rüstem Paşa Camii, and I was so amazed! I've seen Agia Sophia and honestly it didn't seem that amazing to me, maybe it was the construction. But this place was so peaceful and incredibly beautiful! If you ever have the chance to go, you definitely should! It's lovely beyond compare! And so tiny and spiritual. You can just sit in there and breath.

I think maybe this has made me want to see more Camii. I saw Eyüp Sultan Camii when I first got to Turkey on a school trip and it wasn't all that incredibly either, there were so many tourists, but now maybe I will go hunting for these little mosques because they're just so wonderful!

I've included some pictures to inspire anyone reading this to go see for themselves!

Thank you for posting those beautiful pictures of tiles in the mosques Paks.

My son and his wife bought some identical tiles to the one in the second row down, third one along in Cesme last night, to use when they refurbish their bathroom.

Paks, you need to get a copy of strolling through istanbul by freely and sumner boyd. It has 14 walks around the city and will take you to every fascinating nook and cranny and tell you the whole history on the way.

A very good book I bought about one guy's view of Turkey (he lived there for years) is by John D Tumpane and it's called Scotch And Holy Water - can highly recommend it - couldn't put it down.  You can buy it on Ebay but as it comes from USA, the cost on there is £14.07 + postage of £15.05 ... or better still via www.amazon.co.uk as they have it in England ... cost there is £25.21 with free postage.  x Angela - now in Cardiff, Wales - but soon in Side, Turkey x
