Maple Syrup?

I was wondering if any of you know if I am allowed to bring goods into Turkey, specifically maple syrup? I know that some countries have laws where only certain foods can be brought in. I'm hoping syrup is alright because I want to give some to my host family, and Maine maple syrup is a well known commodity from my state!

Although there are no restrictions on you bringing Maple syrup as a gift, I would point out that generally, Turks are very conservative about food and you may find that you are the only one eating it.

I was asked to bring maple syrup to a Turk when I came back from the states. He wanted pancake mix too! He'd lived in the US before and couldn't get it in Turkey. So I have a little experience in syrup-smuggling. Posted Image
