  1. Turkish Migration Office is returning to their normal functions with applications being made fully by post. This means all documents necessary for RP must be submitted by postal services to the office you have applied in the online system and they will notify you either by e-mail or SMS about the date limit for this procedure counting from the date you have been notified about it. This is for Istanbul as far I know. I have no idea in other cities in Turkey.
  2. Good morning every one. Im a student here in Turkey and I applied for my residence permit via the university, I finished everything about it and paid the tax. its been a while I didn't receive any respond on my case so I checked it out online and it shows this message. Any idea what does it mean? is it rejected?
  3. Has anyone tried to pay for their residence renewal application online? 157 told me to use the Interaktif vergi dairesi website (https://ivd.gib.gov.tr/), but it's not clear how to use it, and every possible payment option I tried didn't work. I also tried the link below, but it won't recognize the application number (i tried to add zeros to make it a 15 digit number, but it also didn't work) https://intvrg.gib.gov.tr/gocborc.jsp?x=23&y=31&fbclid=IwAR1-JJWIe5nTk_0NwhXQZJL3U2rUpbzxk2KLYWNBk0SC6hRMz_2M_IHWqiM
  4. Hey... I'm going onto my fifth residence permit now... and every time is a new headache. I am trying to apply for extension and I get a technical error message at the third page (passport info) every single time. And, its not because Im entering anything wrong. I called them and they said try at odd hours. I did, still the same technical error message! My residence expires on March 11, I really want to mail this in and get on with things. What should I do? I also wrote them many times and never get a response...
  5. Applying today for my gf who is a Thai Citizen and is allowed 30 day visa free entry. I am US Citizen and have 90 days. She has 14 days left on her visa. We would both like to apply for the 1 year RP. A few questions in this regard. 1. After applying online, how long until granted an appointment? 2. Can appointments be made in any city in Turkey or have to be in Ankara? 3. We are renting an AIrbnb, month to month..would that be acceptable? 4. Can I provide financial documentation on her behalf if requested as Airbnb is under both our names? 5. We both have travel insurance..will that be adequate? It is a year policy but renewed monthly.
  6. After submitting my completed short-term resident permit application online, I was having the hardest time on the website selecting an available date for my interview in Ankara. I called the 157 number (which has been a HUGE help and they answer every question patiently as you complete your application) - and they explained you can not register correctly when using a Mac computer. THEN, it still didn't work for me, and so my fiance tried changing the calendar to Turkish instead of English. THEN and only then did it work. So, wanted to let the community know - even if it says dates are blocked off - they are NOT! There is a systematical error with the calendars translating between languages. Change your calendar to Turkish language (upper right hand corner) and you will find many dates available.
  7. I am confused about processing time for PR first time apply. It is stated that, the maximum processing time is 90 days. I applied for PR first time on the 16th. May 2019. Made the interview on 11th. of June 2019. I did not receive any answer yet, every time I check my application result showing me: I do not know when the processing time begin? Is it from applications date? or from interview date?
  8. I recently tried the residence permit application online but is giving me errors whenever i reached to the travel document portion. Isn't allowing my passport number and is the same passport I used to enter Turkey three days ago. Please I need help if anyone had this incident before.
  9. I am receiving the Error Message , when i am updating my Application for Re-New my Residence permit application Technical failure has occurred in the system 09b40da6-0ab8-4437-8dd9-ed11816c8daa
  10. I'm applying for a short-term RP. I called 157 and was told to go to www.e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr. When I type this I am told there is a privacy error and my connection is not private. (I only get this message when trying to reach that particular site). I've tried logging on and off again but to no avail, so far. There is another site: e-ikamet.com It gives information about what documents are needed and the cost of the RP but it doesn't provide an application procedure. Can anyone provide any advice on how I can proceed and which of the two sites is authentic?
  11. Does any body know of a company/someone in Bodrum that can assist me with obtaining a Short term tourist Residence permit?
  12. First of all, thanks for compiling such an enormously helpful site - by far the best resource on Turkish visas / residency permits that I have come across. My wife, son and I are just about to apply for short term residency permits in order to extend our 3 month stay as tourists by a further two months. As our tourist visas run out on 9th September I am slightly concerned that I have left our applications too late especially with the forthcoming 10 day bayram, although from what I have seen on this forum it appears that we would be OK to stay in Turkey even if our tourist visa has expired as long as we have completed the online application and have a forthcoming appointment arranged - can you confirm that this is correct? Also I have just noticed on another question a requirement to have a birth certificate for my son (he is 2 years old) translated into Turkish - can you please provide precise details on the requirements re: this - is it something I need to arrange before the appointment? Do you have any idea how long it takes to get a birth certificate issued from the UK if you have misplaced the original and do you know how long it will take to get it translated in line with the requirements?
  13. I’m new to Turkey Central and desperately trying to fill in the online form for my Family Resident Permit renewal (my permit expires on MONDAY!!). This is my 4th year doing this but the offices I have attended previously have been super helpful and filled in the form for me. Same office, different staff, no help this time. They made out I should just put ‘blah blah blah’ on the form for all address details and it would be sorted out at the actual appointment. But now I cannot put matching addresses for my current address and my sponsor’s address (because I made the first one up like they suggested) and I cannot find a way to go back on the form to correct any errors without inputting acceptable info on the sponsors page (which I can’t do without going back, catch 22!). Is there any way I can go back on the online form or is ok to just cancel the application and start again? It asks for a cancellation reason as though it is a serious matter to cancel and I don’t want to be in a position to mess up the process even more! I’d like to just cancel and start again if that is the best option. I couldn’t get any answers from the unhelpful staff as my son’s school called and I had to leave to collect him as he was ill.
  14. I have residence permit (short time) anybody knows if i cancel my application from the residence permit application website what will happen? (Because i need edit my info) And anybody know if I should go as person to immigration office or I should post my documents ( because system gave me time & date in April 2017 to going there with my application & documents) but i heard people just extend/renew it by sending their documents with PTT post after they fill their application from online My permit expire date is 12 February But it is written by mistake as 20 February in my application (and system is lock & no way to edit)
  15. My residence will expire today but when I went to book for a renewal, they told me that the system is not good and they gave me an application number without print out of details and money. I want to know if I have overstayed by doing that today without a print out.
  16. I had tried for many days now to fill in the application for short term residence permit. Now I saw that I can not use the English version, which I have tried all the time. Page one , no problem, and I had got a application number, page two I can fill in, but I got error when I would go to next page. ”Technical failure has occurred in the system” I had also tried Turkish page, but it is the same problem. But only tried that on Ipad. My question: Must I use a computer? Can I use Ipad? Is there any special web browser I shall use? Anybody else with same problem?
  17. Hello, did you encountered a problem like mine? It's a bout 2 days that my renewal procedure stop when i click NEXT on the passaport information page. See the attached pictures:
  18. I came to Turkey on a tourist visa and would like to get a residence permit for 2 year period for 'touristic purpose'. I'm currently 'unemployed' but I have more than sufficient funds for the 2 years period in my savings from my past work. On the residence permit application website, in the "Information on Income" step of the application process, I have declared the 'income status' and 'source of funds' based on my savings. However, I'm confused about the "Current occupation" part. Should I put it as my 'past profession/field' or as 'unemployed'? Would that affect my chances of getting a residence permit? Can anyone please suggest what needs to be done here? I'll be applying from Izmir.
  19. This week I completed the renewal for my Residence Permit (RP). I had a little bit of "fun" with the RP website, so I thought I would tell you about it. I live in a village near Kaş in the Antalya province and we here are very lucky that we have a DGMM office right in the middle of Kaş so don't have to go far for help. While I was filling in the form online I found that entering my house address became impossible when one of the drop-down fields would not allow me to enter the relevant information. I was not in a hurry to get the application finished because my RP does not run out until mid May so I just waited till the next day and tried again. It still didn't work so the next day I went to the DGMM office in Kaş to see what could be done. The two guys in the office there are extremely helpful and we had a few laughs but even they could not make the website work so the result was that "sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, keep trying". I went back home and tried again and it worked! So if you have the same problem just keep trying.
  20. Hey TC, I applied for short RP for my parents but the soonest appointment I can get is Jan 13th which is like 3-5 days after their 90 days tourist visa finish. I was told if you they got an appointment date then visa expiration is not important and that wont be a problem. Is that True ?
  21. Hi This specific issue is affecting me right now. My wife and I decided to cancel our Istanbul appointments at the main Fatih Göç İdaresi that were due on Sat 10th Dec because we had heard that if you have a Saturday appointment and need to take more documents back it can only be done on a Saturday and we are in the UK for the 2 Saturdays after 10th and don't want to be told on the 3rd Saturday - "sorry you're too late, you should have come back earlier". So we cancelled them ok. We did my wife's again and got to the final screen and "Make Appointment" is selectable. So I then tried to do mine and got all the way to the same point and "Make Appointment" is greyed out. I know this happens all the time unless you make sure your insurance expires a day after your Ikamet - so we did that for my wife's and that worked. So for me, even after doing this and checking that my personal info is exactly what I typed 3 weeks ago it just will not let me book anything. I scrapped the application and tried again - same result. I have a feeling it is something to do with my date of birth on the 2nd screen which it pre-fills with "05/30/1959 12:00:00 AM". What the time is doing there I have no idea. I never typed it in. It lets me proceed to the next page - if I remove the time it always comes back eventually. If anyone has any ideas about how to make the Make Appointment option clickable please reply. Graham Nelson
  22. Since Ken is going to ask DGMM to clarify a few issued regarding residency permit applications, I would like to collect those questions here. We should try to keep them as precise as possible, but since they make everything so complicated I am not sure if it will be possible 1) How can a first time short-term residency applicant apply for 2 years, if foreigners health insurance policies are only ever issued for 1 year? 2) If the requirement for the 1 year health insurance policy is to be valid one day after the end of the requested residency permit end date, and if the residency permit is to be requested for one full year, the first day, which is the start date of the residency permit will not be covered by the insurance policy. 157 told me that this is a problem. Another time 157 told me it is not a problem. So this situation is completely unclear. Example: The foreigners health insurance policy (maximum 1 year) starts 02.09.2016 & ends 02.09.2017 - The applicant must select 01.09.2017 as the ending date, last day of the residency permit in order to comply with the requirement that the health insurance must be valid for one day longer than the residency permit/ However this brings the first day, the starting date of the 1 year residency permit to 01.09.2017, and that day is now not covered by the insurance policy. Is this a problem or not and what to do about it? Apply for 364 days instead of a full year? 3) How much time is allowed to pass between making the online application / application date and the appointment date? 4) How much time is allowed to pass between the end of the 90 days visa free entry and the appointment date? 5) Is there a 30 day rule for handing in missing documents? I was told I will have to leave the country if I can not hand in a missing Apostilled document within 30 days. some questions not related to short term applications: 6) Where can the foreigner get help to calculate his last legal day in Turkey based on the 90 out of 180 day rule? I was told 157 don't assist with this. Next time I called I was given the number of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they however also said they don't help. They said call the airport where you entered. The airport (in this case Antalya) only has a Turkish message and then disconnects. I am confident I calculated correctly plus I used the Shengen online calculator to confirm it, however Izmir calculated another date, so now I don't know what to do. 7) 157 told me that the 90 out of 180 day rule for visa free entries does not apply to German passport holders, they said that Germans always get 90 days on every entry no matter what, which I found strange! The ministry of foreign affairs said this is incorrect and the 90 out of 180 day rule applies to German passports alike.
  23. The RP Application System in use in 2015 (I'm based in Istanbul) seemed to be a step forward in that everything was done on-line and then posted in (for renewals only , not 1st timers) to main Göç İdaresi office. RPs were received back by post. The only snag was waiting between 2 and 2.5 months for the RP to arrive. However the great thing about this system was that at the time of the on-line application you could print off a document that would allow you to leave Turkey for up to 15 days whilst waiting for the RP. From what I've heard it is all change again in 2016. You still apply online but everyone ( even renewals ) has to go for an appointment at their local office. It looks like you get given the appointment date at the end of on line application and you get no choice. Now things start to get difficult - at least here in the Uskudar/Kadikoy districts of Istanbul - I have spoken to 2 people who have applied recently - one in April - appointment date 13th October and one last week (end of May) - appointment date 23rd November. So there is basically a 6 month waiting list !! One of these people has applied for a child's RP for 5 months to try and get it aligned with his own renewal date (because of the Health Insurance issue) and the interview is after the proposed new expiry date ! The big snag here is that there is (as I understand it - please correct me if you know differently) no means of printing out the 15-day leave to travel document - I presume you can get this at the interview (like in the 2014 system) but if you're waiting 6 months for the interview that's half a year when you can't leave (without a fine). Two other things - I understand the wait for appointments in other parts of Istanbul is more like 1 to 2 months. Also, someone I know had their interview in Kadikoy on 25th May (applied Dec 2015) and got their RP card 6 days later.
  24. Hi, Im resident in Istanbul. After my anticipated wait to renew my visa on the new system using the postal application service I tried applying for my renewal today but on my attempts got told that I was not recognised on the system. Frustrating part is I've got all documents ready to go then face this problem. I wonder if anyone else has encountered this problem ? Or advice on the issue. Help would be most grateful.!
