  14. If you're between the ages of 18 and 65 and are applying for a residence permit, you'll need a health insurance policy that covers you for the duration of your intended residence. You'll submit a copy of this policy with your residence permit application package. The insurance company must also be registered and have an address in Turkey. Many insurance companies in Turkey sell "expat health insurance policies" for foreigners needing residence permits. They all meet the minimum requirements. Unfortunately, these policies offer limited coverage during the first year. And if you're treated for a medical condition, the policy you get the next year will probably exclude that condition for coverage.
  16. Before you apply for a residence permit in Turkey, you must have health insurance. Most foreigners buy private health insurance policies specifically designed to meet the minimum requirements for a residence permit. These policies are commonly called "Expat Insurance." They usually cost a few hundred Turkish Lira, but the price varies according to age and other factors. Buy Health Insurance Before You Apply Online Residence permit applications are made online, at https://e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr/. 19. Istanbul is the most popular destination for foreigners seeking a new life in Turkey. For that reason, the Directorate General of Migration Management (DGMM) offices there have the highest number of residence permit applications, many of which contain false information or fake documents submitted by foreigners who intend to work illegally. For first-time applications, if the reason for the stay is "tourism,"

  23. This guide is about leaving and re-entering Turkey after you've applied for your residence permit, but before you've attended your appointment. To learn about leaving and re-entering Turkey after your appointment, see: Leaving Turkey After Your Residence Permit Appointment. It's best not to plan travel between the time you apply for a residence permit and the time you receive your residence permit card in the mail.
