In the apse is the figure of the Christ Most Holy at the center of a Desis which indicates the funerary chapel function of the building. The separated placements of the two mediators, the Virgin and John the Baptist, shows the dedication of the parakklesion to Christ. The Virgin and John the Baptist are turned towards Christ.
