  1. My mother passed away and she had a property in Istanbul that she owned. Title of deed or address are no where to be found. all I know is that the property is in Istanbul. there is no documentation at all about anything with relation to the property. all we have is her death certificate and her passport and visa stamp on passport. How can I find out about the property or obtain a new title deed document for inheritance purposes ? we are 2 sons and 1 daughter.
  2. I am trying to find out some information regarding the formal inheritance process in Turkey. I am a British citizen, who's father died in 2018. He jointly owned a property in Turkey (but lived in the UK) with equal shares with my step-mother - both of their names are still on the tapu (property title deed) as she has not dealt with this with the government. He had no will when he died. My siblings and I are not interested in inheriting the property at all, but i wondered what the rules are. Do we by law have to inherit our share of the property or can we waiver our rights to this? Is inheritance automatic from the day my father died and are my siblings and I responsible for any outstanding payments on the property (not mortgage but management fees), or do we have to go through a formal process to gain a certificate of inheritance from the Turkish government? I would rather we had absolutely nothing to do with the property, we are happy for our step-mother to have the full share. My step-mother is due to make a payment for outstanding management fees on the property, and I have been told by the company that as my father is dead, my siblings and I are also directly responsible for these costs - is this correct? They are threatening lawyer and court action (although she says she has paid and it is waiting to hit the management companies bank account) but I am wondering if this would just be against our step-mother as our names are not on any legal documents at all.
  3. A Dutch lady owns a holiday apartment together with her British husband. Both names are on the tapu (property title deed). They are both residing in the Netherlands. While on vacation in Turkey last fall, he dies. He has 3 children from another marriage that are British citizens that reside in the UK. 1) He did not leave a will. How much of this property will the children inherit? 75% of the 50% he owned? 2) They all want to sell the apartment. If possible, they don't want to have to travel to Turkey. They are all in agreement, they have a Turkish buyer who lives in Turkey and they want to do it as inexpensively as possible because the sales price is low (25k Euro). How could they do this?
  4. Hello, I hope everyone is doing well. Sadly my ex husband died unexpectedly leaving behind our 13 year old son, my ex is Originally from Turkey and was living in Canada with Canadian Citizenship, our son born in Canada. My son is the only living relative left and his dad left couple of homes in Turkey and probably money. The issue is I don’t know from where to start and what paper work we need so my son can access and manage what’s left for him. I heard we need a certificate of inheritance from Turkey first. Any advice would be much appreciated?! Thanks
  5. Could someone help please. My mother and her partner of 40 years moved to Turkey in 2005 and have lived their ever since. My mother's partner died in August and their joint bank account has been frozen. Mother has been told from the bank that she needs to get a certificate of inheritance in order to release the funds. The problem is nobody seems to know what documents she needs to take to court to get this certificate because they never married. There are no family left on the deceased side as he had no children can anybody tell me what she needs to prove she is entitled to their own money and get this certificate please.
  6. My grandmothers lawyer found a huge sum of fortune entitled to her grandfather which left no will. But the lawyer seemed happy and sure he can get my grandma the inheritance. Her lawyer found a old fortune of land money and gold in turkey. How does this work? Does my grandma have a 100% chance here?
