I was bitten by a street dog in Istanbul two nights ago. I went straight to Haseki hospital and was given a tetanus injection. I have three more injections to get in the coming ten days. I have to say, the service at the hospital was very poor. There was no advice given on what care to take of the wound nor about the injection and any potential side affects. Is anyone here able to offer any help? I've been told the state hospital in Sisli offers a better service.

Hello all, I am debating on bringing my cat with me to Turkey after winter break (February), and I have a few questions. I should start by saying I have researched what I need to do by Turkish Airlines' standards (vaccines, small carry on crate, etc) - - but if any one has any personal or recent experience with this, please let me know. My main inquiry is the procedure once I arrive to Turkey. Is there a quarantine process, or any hold ups I should be aware of? I'm really hoping someone on here has some recent or personal experience with this. I am really on the fence a

I took Abi's advice and have started this thread and would like to know any information regarding the lack of flamingos on Tuzla lake over the last two years. I have a video on youtube: Also no my web site in the property for rent bit, showing how many flamingo's where on the lake in 2008. Does anyone know the reasons for this? I have been told that there is a lot of untreated sewage is being discharged into the lake, has any info on this? A bit about myself I bought a wreck of a farm house (I have attached some pics) and have been renovating it over the last 5 years s

This is a great time of year for spotting birds. This morning the university pond has loads of house martens, small with their flashes ofwhite, and swifts, large and brown with a hideous call, flitting around catching their breakfast. We don't see many swallows around here though, although it is exciting to catch a glimpse of a kingfisher. We wake every morning to a dawn chorus of blackbirds and bulbul, even though we are well in the city. We are looking forward to seeing great flocks of storks passing over. What are the birds like down your way?
