  4. Dear forum, I’m from Sweden and moved to Istanbul together with my girlfriend to join her for her exchange semester at the Istanbul Technical University. The 90/180 rule applies to me as a tourist, however, as I have been entering and exiting the country several times this year (and will at least 2 more times this year) I am not sure how to count and whether I will need a residence permit or not. I already went here on April 18th for vacation and stayed for 11 days. On the 28th of August I came back to Turkey with my girlfriend for her school start, exited again for a week, and then came back again. I will leave again on the 28th of October and in total I will then have spent 67 days in Turkey (including the days in april). Thing is, if we count from 18th of April (my first entry) and 180 days onward, that period would end 14th of October. Does this mean, that by my time of re-entry to Turkey (which will be on the 2d of November), a new 180 day period will start of which I can utilise another 90 days of stay on a tourist visa? All the best, Marcus
  5. Hi there. I am currently visiting Turkey on holiday and I would like to extend my stay. However, it will mean that the visa I used to come in on will have expired as it says I can only be here for a month. I arrived on Sept 14 and I am currently meant to leave on October 6. But I want to leave on October 23 or 24 depending on what the costs are to change my air ticket back to South Africa. Is it possible for me to get on the which is valid until 11 March 2020, or must I leave Turkey as I have a Schengen visa and apply for a new visa while outside the country? Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
  6. Hi everyone, I would like to know if the 90 days rule is depending on the person or on the passport, means if someone has 2 passports, can he/she stay in the country 180 days by using 2 passports or not?
  7. Hi. It will be my first time to go to Turkey and I have a tourist visa if ever I want to extend my stay what can I do? can I apply for Short Term Residence Permit? Or is there any other option for me to extend my visa?
  8. Hi. It will be my first time to go to Turkey, if ever I want to extend my stay can I apply for Short Term Residence Permit?
  9. Does time spent outside Turkey visiting Greece mean i will have extra time up to 90 day limit when i return? Many thanks in advance
  10. I am an exchange student from Thailand who will go to Istanbul (on 14 June 2019.) for an internship under the programme called IAESTE(The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience) with a Turkish company. I got so confused from the Embassy of Turkey in Bangkok that gives the validate date of visa cover only my intern period (Like 17 June 2019 - 9 August 2019) but I have to get into the dormitory before the starting date of my internship. Actually, I gave them a flight reservation when I applied for the visa. I want to know that can I enter the country with a freee visa first and then use the internship visa in the day it's validated (Regarding Thai citizen exempt Visa for 30 days visit)? Have anybody got this issue too please lets me know. Thanks
  11. I overstayed in Turkey for 7 days simply because i missed my flight, and efforts to re issued and leave Turkey following day results to 7 days . 12. Hi everyone, My partner and I have been in turkey now for almost two months within these last 90 days and intend to settle after a short trip to europe next week. I will then apply for our short term residence. Our intention is to buy a property here in Alanya, but will not have made the purchase before our official 90 day allowance expires. We'll obviously have to apply as tourist extensions since we don't have a Tapu yet but am wondering if in applying for a tourist visa and explaining to the immigration officer we are here to purchase a property could be a source of a headache at the interview rather than a just asking for simple tourist residence permit and not tell them these plans?... We already have all residence permit requirements ready to go but want it to be hassle free as much as possible. What do you guys think? Thank you.
  13. I was in the process of renewing my resident permit when my mom was diagnosed with cancer. I had to leave almost immediately to care for her. I did not have everything ready to submit so I submitted what I had and left Turkey. My application was subsequently rejected. I knew that this was going to happen so I went and got a 15 day travel document. I have been in the US for 6 months which is obviously way longer than 15 days. I am ready to go back- I have my e-visa and ticket. What can I expect when I arrive in Istanbul? Am I going to have to pay some kind of fine for staying out longer than 15 day? TIA
  14. Hello all, This is my 1st time ever using a forum so I hope I am coming across correctly, I am desperate for advice & hope to find some here. I am 25 years old British, recently married to my Turkish husband & we have a 4 month old baby girl. Our baby girl now has her British passport now & I desperately want us all to visit my family in the UK for 10 days. We have basically been scared off even trying by horror stories but I really would like to try. My husband is the owner of our apartment however doesnt have money in the bank as his season is finished (he works as a bell boy & this runs March to November) & we used his money for our bills, necessities etc but don't touch money in my bank as our "savings". His military service will start in September when he will go for 3 weeks. I'm basically asking does anyone think it is worth us even trying just now? Or wait until later? So many say wait until he has completed military service as that will hinder it, my bank account can't be shown as his money, he isn't technically employed just now so that looks bad. My thoughts are surely that we have a baby we want to visit my family with & that he owns his own property would stand us in good stead? If anyone has any advice, tips or words atall I would be so grateful thankyou.
  15. I made an account just to ask a really important question. I am a swedish citizen in Turkey right now and I´ve been here for almost a month. According to the 90/180 days rule I can stay a maximum up to 90 days in any half year period. But if I get a visa the next time I come back to Turkey, would I then be exempt from this rule?
  16. Hello, A close friend of mine from Turkey wants to visit me in the U.K. I tend to go every year but this year I would like to host him in England. He would also like to visit England. However, I have heard it is hard to get a visa to visit England. He is a waiter and is on a low salary and he also studies at University. I would really appreciate some advice. Thankyou!!
  17. Hello Guys, I can use an advice please, I'm a U.S. citizen and I overstayed my 90 days, I think it was 95 or so, and left for 10 days (I paid the fine in the airport), obtained a new visa and reentered, they told me that I have to apply for a residence permit within 10 days, which I did, it was denied, which I don't know why. So if I leave now, can I pay another fine and come back after 8 months or so? And if they ban me, how long would they ban me for? Thank you.

  19. Hello my case is like this : i entered turkey on 28 Aug 2017 with my Jordanian passport on a 90 Days visa. I applied for an appointment for the residency permit , got it on 29 Nov 2017 i went to the appointment and they requested extra papers from Jordan like bank account balance and a clean criminal record ( that will take 2 months to be issued from the embassy ) the criminal clean record issuance date is 5 Dec 2017 and had all the legal government stamps from Jordan and translated to English. i got the papers today 3 Feb 2018 but I was told that I have only 30 days to get the requested papers and get back to the appointment again but it took 60 days am I considered as an overstayed person ? And what will be the procedure when I get back to the residency office and show them the papers and tell them that it took two months to be issued . Thanks in advance

  21. Hello friends, As you all are probably aware, there was/is a diplomatic row between Turkey and the US in which visa services were suspended. I received word that visa services have resumed, but I am wondering about Americans getting tourist visas. I am hoping to marry in Turkey soon and my parents want to visit. Does any one know how to contact the embassy, I tried calling but they directed me to their website. Thanks as always, and sorry if this question has been answered elsewhere. Best wishes, Thomas

    Visa Help

Hi First post here. I'm planning on coming back to Turkey next month (September) but my visa runs out on 30th September! Am I correct in thinking that I can leave Turkey on 30th the day it runs out? Also I will hopefully be coming back sometime in April next year and also looking to come back for 3-4 months in the summer. A new visa for April should be no problem but if I come back in the summer this will take me over the 90 days allowed in 180. What would my options be? Am I correct in thinking that to apply for another tourist visa I would have to leave the country for a day and come back? Or would an option be to apply for a short term residents visa while there in summer? Sorry I find the whole visa and residents thing confusing
  24. Hi Guys, Me and my husband are INDIAN PASSPORT HOLDERS RESIDING IN DOHA, QATAR. We plan to vacation in turkey in September 2017 and have got the VALID TOURIST VISA -SINGLE ENTRY for the duration of - 10.08.2017 - 10.11.2017. Stating the DURATION OF STAY - 10 Now while confirming our flight bookings we decided to extend our trip by 2days and have already made the reservations and bookings. I want to avoid rescheduling the flights and reservations as I will end up paying a lot in cancellations. I want to clarify - 1) Will I be penalised for over staying for 2 days? 2) If yes? Then what would it be? 3) Is it possible to make the change on the printed visa? 4) If in case I decide to travel without making any changes to my planned itenary or visa would I be fined? And how much would that be? PLEASE HELP AND GUIDE AS TO THE BEST WAY TO GO ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE. 5)
  25. This is a little bit of a crazy happening. I arrived in Turkey 4 years ago. I had a job at a school in istanbul and they did not offer a work visa. That was fine with me. I thought I would only stay one year. then after two years I moved to İzmir. my visa was to be renewed but ı did not have the funds to do it, so I let it lapse. My thought was that I would save the cash and leave for some time and then come back after a year or so. now the visa is over by two years and I am working as a private teacher and money is low. as in so low that some days I cant afford to eat. I had a friend that moved to izmir and we took a flat together. Now that the school year has ended , he left without paying me back for the 3 months rent I paid and he also didnt pay for the June rent. the landlord was sympathetic to the situation but now it is July and I still owe for June and now July. so here are my questions. 1. about the rent... is there a way that I can legally extend my time to pay? I mean should I have a friend explain in Turkish to them that I have lost most of my students due to the summer and ask them to let me pay like as much as I can each week? what are your thoughts on that working? they are very nice ppl... 2. seeing as how I have no family back in the states ( raised in foster homes and set out on my own a few years back) I have no one to ask for money help to get out of here... so could I like go to the embasy and tell them that I have overstayed and they send me back to the US? will they allow me to take my things with me? will I be arrested? could I ever come back to Turkey if I do this? thanks in advance for the help even though it is bad all around and I am at a loss every day on what to do
