  1. If you are invited to a Turkish home for dinner, you might see a spread like this: Fish, lamb, or chicken. In this case i was Çinekop fish from the Marmara sea, Barbunya (a kind of beans), fava beans, salad, goat cheese, olives, Şakşuka (fried aubergine and potatos, green pepper, garlic and tomato sauce, red pepper with vinegar and garlic, fried cauliflour, Kısır (bulgar salad with ming, parsley, onion and other herbs), bread spreads such as haydarı (yoghurt with mint), and ground, spicy tomatos. And of course, rakı, Turkey's national alcoholic drink, which turns white when mixed with water. It is also called "lion's milk!). This delicious dinner was thanks to Arzu, who lives in Lara, Antalya.

    Kelle Paça Soup

Kelle Paça is a soup made from cow's feet, and sometimes the cow's head. It is often the meal of choice after a night of drinking, to fend off the morning hangover!

  5. Hi. My niece wants her boyfriend to slowly meet her family, since we are pretty big and can be outspoken, then it won't be so overwhelming when they come to her grandparents house for Thanksgiving and Christmas. My husband, son and I are next in line. My niece isn't answering her text messages lately, since she is on cloud nine. Knowing that he is Muslim, are there any restrictions as to what can be eaten ? I'm not cooking anything, gonna order a party pizza along with some chicken wings. For dessert, brownies, pie, and ice cream with a make your own sundae bar. Becca, my niece has mentioned that her boyfriend is somewhat, still a religious person. If the menu will not approve, lots of suggestions would be great. Also a little off topic, I have ?'s about if a Muslim is not secular, and still practices their religion, is it common to date someone who is not of their religion? Is it frowned upon? Sharon PS I almost forgot, since it is nearly Veterans Day, if there are any veterans on this forum, thanks for your service and all your sacrifices.
  6. Hi everyone Firstly I am terrible cook! Always have been! Didn't do cooking at school as I was too much into sport etc. not every girly! I'm not completely useless! I can do lasagne, shepherds pie etc. I'm now engaged to a Turkish man who is a brilliant cook and as I work he does most of it each day. I absolutely love Turkish food so I'm happy but I'd love to be able to cook Turkish dishes. I've tried my local college but I can't find any Turkish cookery lessons. I wondered if anyone knew of any colleges/ companies / lessons available in London? Thank you
