If you make a post in the Turkey Central forum which contains derogatory comments about a person or company, you should be aware of the definition of defamation of character, and possible legal ramifications for posting defamatory information.
Defamation of Character
Dictionary.com defines defamation as follows:
the act of defaming; false or unjustified injury of the good reputation of another, as by slander or libel; calumny: She sued the magazine for defamation of character.
Dictionary.com defines libel as follows:
a. defamation by written or printed words, pictures, or in any form other than by spoken words or gestures.
b. the act or crime of publishing it.
c. a formal written declaration or statement, as one containing the allegations of a plaintiff or the grounds of a charge.2. anything that is defamatory or that maliciously or damagingly misrepresents.

3. to publish a libel against.
4. to misrepresent damagingly.
5. to institute suit against by a libel, as in an admiralty court.
Turkey Central's Responsibility
Turkey Central is incorporated in the United States and follows US Laws. It is also hosted in the United States. Title 47, Section 230 USC (United States Code) exempts Turkey Central from liability for defamation of character and/or libel committed by its members.
It is impossible for Turkey Central to determine if something posted in the forums is true or untrue. And we don't want anyone to be a victim of defamation. But we also don't want to prevent members from telling others the facts about a bad experience they had, if doing so will prevent the same bad experience from happening to someone else.
If Turkey Central is served with a court order to remove defamatory content, we will comply with it. We will also comply with a court order demanding the contact information of and member who posts defamatory content. This may include IP addresses, e-mail addresses, or any other information the court requests.
What you post in the Turkey Central forums is your responsibility. If you post untrue, defamatory information about another person or company, you are 100% responsible for it.
Our Right to Remove Obviously Malicious Posts
We reserve the right to remove posts in cases where we believe a post was made for malicious reasons rather than out of a concern for others.
