The inscription says: "This urn belongs to Herakleides, the son of Heroides." We know from an inscription found at Ilion that Herakleides from Dardanos, the son of Heroides, took part in the Panathenais games. It is assumed that the person mentioned on this urn is the same person who appears on the inscription from Ilion. Thus the date of 77 BC may be assumed for this artifact as it is the date of the games.
