Turkey’s transport minister declared that nearly 450 million TL have been earmarked for investment in İzmir port until 2015, speaking at a meeting last week with regional managers of the institutions that work under the İzmir Alsancak Port.

Transport Minister Binali Yıldırım said İzmir Alsancak Port’s passenger pier capacity would be developed to host five or six cruise ships at one time.

There is a lot of investment being put into Samsun's port as well due to an agreement between Turkey and Russia where freight will come over on the ships and then go down to the south by train.
