Datura's blossoms face up, while those of Brugmansia hang down in clusters.
I think it may be difficult to find them at this time of year as I've an idea that they die back in winter.
I would also like a Brugmansia for my garden. If your sister finds some Tiphereth could you let us know please?

sure sunny, whenever i put hand on this gorgeous tree, i will let u know...yeah they die back in winter but they always save cuttings before that...all we need is a tiny woody cutting.
i have daturas already, the white "inoxia" and the purple "metel".

My favourites here are ones that grow high enough that the tortoises can't eat them, bad tasting enough that the birds don't eat them, hard enough that the wood boring insects go elsewhere, tough enough that they survive months without water in the summer and like getting drowned and frozen in the winter. Oh, and aren't upset by my dogs peeing on them every now and then.what r ur fav plants?
Not asking for too much....... am I?

For colour in the garden that will survive dogs and the elements are bougainvillea, solanum, rosemary and geraniums (pellagoniums(?)) I put in a few bedding plants in the summer and I have an agapanthus that is doing well in a big pot.

Another method of growing is to separate side stems and plant them. So I think the only chance is to meet someone who has one in his/her garden..
Yes, I too wonder why they call them so. It belongs to the family Solanaceae, just like eggplants..
But I should add something: even the name patlican çiçeği is local. Some people who dont know this name try to give it a name, or use the translation from English .

I got it from one of the stalls in the Saturday market but there is also a very nice garden centre called Mimosa (I think) in Eski Datca a few km's from Datca town. They have a huge one in the garden and I have seen them for sale. If your sister is in Datca when I am next year she can have loads of cuttings from me! At the moment I have trips planned for April and August but I hope to be there at other times too.
