An offensive in Alanya against illegal workers hit foreign residents this month. The days of working without a permit and “staying under the radar” are over: Europeans who want to work in the sun would be well-advised to give Alanya a pass and head for a European Union member country instead. Two young Danes, both new to the country, were deported for working illegally at a real estate agency.

I have found this thread of searching on how to report illegal workers. Do anybody know how to do this? Who do we have to inform? x

I think a phone call to the local Police station usually works.

i cant see that just a phone call would suffice as they cannot deport unless having proof of having worked or taken monies & if noone will confess or the whistle blower wont stand up in court where can the polis take it? interesting thought...

Yes, you're right Lu a phone call on it's own wouldn't get them deported as you so rightly said, they would have to have proof. But a phone call in the first instance to report "the person" as working illegally and where they were working would start the ball rolling. I think a few of the larger police stations like Antalya for instance have a hot line where you can ring up and report people who have committed any sort of crime. I think illegal workers are usually caught in the act so they can't deny anything.
I do think in the tourist areas the police are well aware of who's an illegal worker especially if they work in the tourist industry and sometimes they do turn a blind eye to it all but as we know they do have a blitz every now and again to clear them out.

I am not actually thinking of doing it i was just wondering how to do it really. There are a few things that I have heard about this situation and 3 turks have lost their job because 3 brits are going to take their place in part of a team and they will also only have visitor visas. x

There are many unemployed Turks looking for work, in many cases capable of doing the same jobs. If there is a genuine need to employ foreigners, employers should then apply for a work permit for them, explaining why.
