Hello,
Planning a drive through to Turkey soon. Three questions, for now:
1. Is Campingaz (the blue bottles) available in the countryside, east of Ankara?
2. How numerous are campsites away from the resort areas?
3. Is camping (in a camper van) permitted outside of campsites?
Thanks for your help!

Hi and welcome to our forum Oldndirty. I don't think it should be a problem getting small gas bottles as Turks do love to go on picnics, making tea and meals, but I can't honestly say if it will be a problem in the area you mentioned.
Please click on this link to find out more about camping sites.
If you are going to park up somewhere over night don't do it in isolated areas just to be on the safe side.
I hope you trip goes well and would love some feed back from you after the event as I'm sure there will be a lot of people interested in how you got on.

Hi Oldndirty, welcome to the forum ! We made the trip by road many, many years ago, and the road was full of Turks returning for holidays from various European countries, as well as long-distance truck drivers along the same routes. Most camped overnight at petrol stations on the freeways -- most of which have lots of parking space for that purpose, as well as little shops, cafes, toilets, and even showers. They are pretty safe, and you won't be alone.
Good luck on your journey -- it should be a lovely adventure !
