Hi Folks
I have spend days looking all over the internet & the information is confusing and conflicting.
I mailed the Turkish Consulate , wrote them letters & tried to get though by phone all to no avail.
I do not want to stay more than 90 days in 180 days nor need a residence permit ... BUT
My visa obtained 20 March - stayed 31days
June - stayed 18 days. so still have 41 days I can stay.
My visa runs out 16 September & I was hoping to travel 10 Sept for 21 days - still well within
my permitted 90 days.
What do I do ? Go and buy a new visa on 10 Sept at Istanbul Airport ? Or leave the country overnight and apply on 17 Sept ?

Hi and welcome to our forum Janjan, Unfortunately even though you haven't used all your 90 days up you will have to leave Turkey overnight and return on the 17th September. The new 90/180 day visa can't be overlapped like the old 90 day one.
Hopefully you can go and stay on a Greek Island which won't be far away from from you will be staying or near a border if you're not.

Yes a night in a Greek Island seems the answer. There have been people recently who were given a new visa to cover them before the old one ran out but I guess this is a border police man not doing his job properly.
Thanks for the reply. I heard of people getting a new visa shortly before the old one ran out - who had not exceeded their 90 days. Nowhere can I find a definitive in Turkish. I called Ankara and they told me I could get another visa from London but that's a long way away to travel to find its incorrect information.

Ah, There was a lot of talk that you would be able to do extend the 180 day visa with what was called a Tourist visa but that never came to pass.
The only way you extend is by way of a short term Resident's Permit. Not sure which area you will be staying but it may be more trouble than it's worth and may be easier and cheaper to overnight in Greece.

Thanks for taking trouble to reply.I appreciate it.
I had Resident's Permit / work permit way back. I will consider it again .
