Hey everyone

after 17 weeks of waiting we finally got a call for my husband to go to the consulate for an 'appointment' he asked is this an interview or collection of my things (with or without visa) and they wouldnt say. Anyone any idea if it is an interview or do they tell you its an interview when they give you your date and time to go? Very nervous!!!

I can't honestly remember the last time I heard of anyone going for an appointment at the Consulate, although I know it does say on the Settlement form that it is possible that an applicant might be interviewed.

The only thing I can say, is back in the days (nearly 12 years ago) when it was normal practise to be interviewed unlike today, my husband was interviewed. After the interview he was granted a Settlement Visa there and then and his passport was stamped with the hour.

So I would think even if it is an interview I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, although I know you will.

Has he got a date for the interview, if not, after 17 weeks of waiting I hope it's very soon.

Yes the interview is tomorrow morning at 9.30 turkish time. A few people have said they dont recall hearing anyone having had an interview so i emailed world bridge who said they do call certain applicants for interview but not all. Im so nervous I dont know how I will think about going to work in the morning, and if bad news trying to hold in my emotions at my desk! The annoying thing is they wouldnt tell us what the appointment was an interview or just collection. Is it more common for people to be told over the phone? xx

So tomorrow is the big day. I can't understand why they won't tell you as it seems rather silly to me, but then I haven't heard of anyone being called for an interview since the system of people handing in application forms came into force.

The good thing as we are 2 hours ahead of you the he will be interviewed at 07:30 your time so I doubt you will get any sleep tonight. If it is an interview there should be a translator sitting along side the ECO, at least there was when my husband was interviewed, so anything your husband doesn't understand can be explained to him in Turkish. He shouldn't be asked anything hard so don't worry.

Wow, an interview at 7.30am at a government office ? I wouldn't have thought they'd even be out of bed by then (???)

No Meral the appointment is at 9:30 Turkish time. I was just saying that as Lauzy is in the UK , 9:30 Turkish time would be 7:30 UK time, as Turkey is 2 hours ahead.

Well my husband had the interview, he answered every question they asked. He said they were professional and they would be in touch within 2 weeks so fingers crossed! some of the questions didnt make any sense for example what do you think of the olympics-dont know what this has to do with us, but we will see what the outcome is soon!!! xx

Glad that's over for you, I was hoping that it would be the same as when my husband was interviewed and he would know straight away. Whilst it's easy for me say 2 weeks isn't long to wait for you it will seem like a life time.

Like Sam I have every crossed, after all the time you have had to wait you deserve to get it
