Following on from 'what do you do in the summer?' (still haven't mastered getting up early) let's make a list of things NOT to do in the heat.

What NOT to do.........

- Clean the fridge-freezer (although to be honest, that's just any time of year - why did I start that today??)

- Go out WITHOUT sun cream on (although that's 10 months of the year for me)

- Put the oven on (EVERYTHING is cooked on the hob - I'd flippin' love a slice of cake!!)

- Open a window with a 33 degree breeze blowing in

- Be heavily pregnant (I'm guessing!!)

- Run out of water late in the evening (I ain't walking to the shop)

Can you think of any more?

Do not water your garden at 7.30 at night without spraying yourself with mossie repellent first. I think they thought I was a 4 course meal.

Do anything strenuous.

You can cook a sponge cake in the microwave in about 4 mins.

Now my sleep pattern is all buggered up.

Going to bed at around 3-4am waking at 8am. Milling around the place for a bit then going for a nap at around 1 till about 6..repeat ad nauseum.

Luckily I'm off to England tomorrow...

I believe it's hot over there as well at the moment. Have a safe trip. Don't forget to bring back some squash.

No I won't be going for the Olympics and fortunately flying straight to Birmingham. Considering the time of year and with the Olympics it only cost me 717tl (return)

Yes, you have to fine tune it, as if you leave them too long they turn out dry and too short a time they will be soggy, but the difference is counted in seconds rather than minutes.

Im finding its too hot to do anything at the moment.

One thing I discovered the other day is not to bother straightening my hair as it just turns to a fizzy mess about 2 seconds after grrr.

I'm so with you on that one, Sam!
The amount of product I'd need to make it look like 'human' hair is frightening! Plus then the effort and sweat of standing and straightening it, to then be all sweaty at the back of the neck just doesn't seem worth it!

Same goes with makeup as when you sweat, or glow if you're a lady, it just runs!

With makeup I dont wear foundation in the summer just bronzer eyeliner and mascara and then hairspray my face lightly to make it all stick, a trick I learnt in the gym/dancing days haha. Just make sure its not a sticky hairspray x

One of the cultural things I've noticed as a teacher is that as soon as a drop of sweat appears on a student, they want them to change their shirt/clothes. However, sweating is the body's natural reaction to overheating, and by preventing the sweating they're also preventing the body from cooling itself off naturally. You're also robbing the skin of the oils produced with sweating that help to keep the skin from drying out. Drink lots of water, and thrive in your sweat!
