Hi all, it's been a long time since we have been on here, but we have good news, we are moving over to Tasyaka, Fethiye permanently on the 19th of October!

We have secured an apartment in Tasyaka, have our tax numbers and opened our bank account.
We are going to come over end of September to bring more "household" goods, and then we will bring ourselves and our two cats in October.

Has any body recently brought pets from the UK to Turkey? I would like to check with you if I have everything in place to make sure that it goes smoothly for our cats. Please contact me through this forum if you have any recent experience.

Her in doors and I are really looking forward to a life in Turkey.

Sunny, thanks for the DEFRA link! We can't wait to be there!
We just have to get our UK house ready for renting, and sort out the paperwork for the cats.

Abi, after I finish work at the end of July, it's going to come along really quickly. We are both committed to staying for 2 years to give it a fair go, but I can't see us ever moving anywhere else except to a different apartment or villa in the general Fethiye area.

Best wishes from me too on your move! Check out the Animals and Pets forum, there may be some answers to your questions there. Also if you learn anything during the process, feel free to post the info there for the next person who comes along... I think you're right, once you move to Fethiye you'll probably want to stay. I happened to me back in 1998, I had planned to return to San Diego a year later, and I'm still here in Turkey!

Thanks for your good luck wishes, we have been coming to OD for 18 years, usually twice a year, and we have talked about coming over every year, now it's going to happen!!!
We would really like to meet some people when we come over and have got settled, so please keep in touch, and that goes for all on the forum, maybe we will get to meet you some day.

Hi Lindy,

Yes it would be great to meet up. We are still on plan, Elaine has finished work already and I will finish on the 27th.
We plan to learn Turkish as our first priority, and would like to help out with some charity work. We would also like to help with animal care groups, if you know of any, maybe you could introduce us?
We are going to need furniture, white goods, broadband and mobile providers (the apartment already has a landline and ADSL) We will try to organise these when we come over in September.
We can't wait to be there, it's been our dream for many years!

Hi Samantha, sorry I didn't get back but they begged me to go back to work as they were in the kack! and I have now just finished finally!!
Glad you had a great time in Fethiye, we will be there next Wednesday for 10 days. Only 4 weeks till we are there for good!
