Strong winds swept across İstanbul on Wednesday, blowing off the roofs of several houses and even shaking the Bosporus Bridge as meteorologists warned of the possibility of even stronger winds.....

We certainly have, thank goodness, although this morning waves were rolling over the road by the harbour and the several inches of sea water was causing problems to a couple of restaurants - Penguen, for example. But minor inconveniences compared to the problems in İstanbul.

One person was killed today in an accident in the Aegean province of Denizli caused by severe weather conditions that took a grip over much of western Turkey, daily Hürriyet reported.......

......Lanes on the Bosphorus Bridge were closed down, and drivers were warned to hold on to their steering wheels tightly...

We lost an end tile off the roof but fortunately that's all. It certainly has been rather wild.
I looked at Izmir's kentkamaralar and the ferries across to Karsiyaka seem to be running.

Just been watching the TV news. Istanbul has certainly been badly hit by the storm with many trees uprooted and building roofs damaged.
Ankara has also had problems with a yellow dust being blown everywhere and a hospital and university roof being damaged.

Gosh that doesn't sound very good, I noticed the wind has picked up here again and wouldn't be surprised to see more rain. Posted Image

Bad bad times, and bad bad timing.......having beaten the border agency we now struggle with the forces of nature to get mete home. He said its been horrific in Istanbul today and traffic is at a standstill everywhere. Let's hope it eases up soon and there are no more fatalities or casualties.

It was a pretty crazy day here in Denizli. I guess with the way the mountains are situated we're kind of at the end of a long windtunnel. Luckily it was fine when I walked to school and I caught a ride home. At one point I looked outside and it looked like tornado weather...everything was kind of yellow and eirily still.

Denizli was mentioned on the news because of that man getting killed and there was quite a lot of damage too.
