BODRUM – Turkish Daily News
DenizTemiz TURMEPA, a foundation that aims to protect Turkey's seas and waterways, has held the “International Coast and Sea Clean-up” campaign. The campaign aims to protect Bodrum and its peninsula, sea and coasts from contamination while helping solve the present pollution problem. Another aim is to form a public opinion about the subject. In the scope of the program eight trailers of trash was collected.
Bodrum Mayor Mazlum Ağan, Bodrum Mariners Foundation President Mustafa Erdoğan, 180 Turmepa volunteers, 40 sportsmen from Bodrumspor Sailing Club, 10 divers from Bodrum Underwater Association (BOSAD) and around 200 students from the elementary schools participated in the clean-up works together with local volunteers.
“This year we have organized this activity for the fourth time. With the coast clean-up campaign we aim to make the region a more desirable place preventing pollution. To form awareness, we included the children in the campaign on purpose. We should all be more sensitive to be able to leave a cleaner environment to the future generations,” said Bodrum TURMEPA Coordinator Filiz Tan
