We've been very lucky this winter with the weather but last night temperatures dropped down. When I checked at midnight it was -19,8°C and looking at the ice on the inside of the windows this morning I suppose it was even colder during the night.

Looking on the bright side I managed to find 2 advantages. One is that vegetables will be better quality this year because the frost and ice will kill off all the vermin in the earth and the other is that we can economise on electricity by taking everything out of the freezer and fridge and putting it out on the balcony!

My word that is way too cold for me these days although it was below freezing here last night but nowhere near that far. I had an operation in a hospital in Antalya on Wednesday and the operating theatre felt about the same as your place! Posted Image

Hope your op went well, Cukur!

The funny thing last night was trying to persuade our dog to come inside and not sleep out on the balcony! It took the two of us and lots of coaxing and cajoling and when he did come in he did it as if he was only try to please us "OK, all right, but only because it is you" !!

Gosh Vic that's rather cold so rather you then me. The weather here is coldish but dry now after the terrible rain we had the other week. Sunny and I went to play darts last night and when we left it was 1 or 2 degrees. Although the weather in Samsun was much much colder in the winter than down here so I think my blood has thinned since living in Turkey. The plus side of living down here is that I haven't had any chilblains this year :) :)

It is cold here in Çeşme and thanks to the weather I am suffering from a nasty head cold and a cold which feels more like the flu to me. xxx

It's been noticeably colder in Çeşme this last week (with snow on the tips of Chios opposite) -- I've even had to resort to wearing longjohns (which I don't like really), and multiple jumpers and socks. But today the wind changed (warmish -- well, uncold) lodos, and has brought clouds & rain.Posted Image

Get well soon, Sam.

I also used to have a thing about longjohns, Meral, but now I am happy for any layer of clothing! A little warmer today as temperatures started this morning at -10 around 8am and actually tipped into positive temperatures just before the sun started declining.

on Saturday, it snowed a little in Maryland, but New England states got way more. And the snow hasn't all melted yet because the last days have been cloudy and cold/rainy. All around miserable weather but great for staying in and enjoying warm Turkish teaPosted Image

After a lovely day here yesterday. the sky is totally grey and it's absolutely pouring down with rain and looks set to carry on for a fair while. The good thing is that it isn't that cold, but of course we do need the rain to fill the reservoirs so that we have water to see us through the summer period.

I am not impressed with the person who sets the weather for Çeşme!! Since the last time I commented on this thread like Abi has already said, we have seen a big mix of weather conditions. Weather have gone from cold and windy, to 2 very beautiful days of sun with a bit of cloud and now today it is raining with the look of not going to stop! :(

Sam, come to Cappadocia! We have a beautiful blue sky and sunshine today, the -20 temperatures are now just a bad memory. The snow is melting fast and it is nearly 4°!

The only time I saw -20 was in Russia. I was there for work for only a few weeks. And when I was out, I always had funny and odd face expressions, I couldnt stop it. With my eyes getting bigger, not being able to walk and with lots of clothes on, I was something between a huge penguen baby and a cartoon charachter. And the worst part was russian ladies were passing me by with their high heels and mini skirts. Let me tell you that doesnt help a woman with her self-esteem.:))

Istanbul is cloudy and sometimes rainy today. Around 7 degrees. (celcius one).

Ha ha, trying to imagine you looking like a cross between a penguin and a cartoon character. -20 is nothing I've ever experienced and I want to keep it that way.

The weather in Cesme continued grey and miserable so we lit the soba. Abi and I invited some friends over and we played rummykup, drank tea and coffee and ate cake so the afternoon passed very pleasantly.

Glad to hear you're feeling better Sam.

They forecast "şiddetli sağanak yağmur" (heavy drenching rain) for our area, and yes, along with thunder & lightning, the heavens opened up! In the middle of the night, a waterfall poured down into our upstairs, through the manhole. We placed plastic troughs & basins and continually emptied them by bucket. This morning after the rain subsided, we found numerous puddles in the roof area. As I write, a low concrete wall is being erected around the manhole as a temporary measure to get us through the winter. New roof on the books for the summer ! Posted Image

Crumbs Meral that sounds terrible, you should have given me a ring and I could have come round and helped you mop up. New roof sounds expensive, ouch but its better than going through that again. :(
