Has any of you ever used Crescent Homes as a builder? And in that case, do you reccomend Halis Akay as a builder?
I have run into a few very dodgy builders lately, but these guys seem well respected judging form the forums. Yet, any first hand experience would be really appreciated.
Thanks for any reply

I hope you do find a reputable builder

If you are thinking of buying off plan you would be well advised to think again no matter how good the offer seems. Whilst there are sound companies and honest builders out there, there are also the opposite. A lot of people, especially in your area have had problems. You would be much safer to buy a ready built property that has its tapu and habitation certificate.

Hello super mod, thanks for the welcome. Actually, off plan is not what I have in mind. I would like to buy a plot Crescent Homes is selling. And later, I was planning on having a sound builder build a house on it. Off plan is when you buy a project on a complex where you do not own the land, isn't it? I suppose my question should have been more articulated. In any case, I intend to acquire a plot first, assisted by a lawyer who is working for my Embassy. Building will come later, but I thought I would begin to enquire....
I understand that buying an already built house is a lot safer, however what I am looking for is very difficult to find here in Turkey, so I will try and embark on this adventure, with as much carefulness I can use. Some of the foreigners I met in the area actually had their houses built, so it must be difficult, but not impossible. Besides, I'm here to check every step of the project. It doesn't make it impossible to run into a scam, but the risk is a little less, I think

It's better if the land is in your name so that loans can't be taken out against the tapu which have been one of the major problems and has caused a lot of people to lose their homes.
If you do intend to go down that route, Military searches have to be made first on the land before any building starts. Make sure you get receipts for everything and that all legal documents are noterised. Also don't pay large amounts of money up front.
It's good that you are here so that you can check every step of the way as Turkish builders are very apt to ignore plans and do things their way which isn't what you want.
Good Luck and let us know how you get on.

Do you anyone who has used your lawyer before just so that you know he/she will do a good job? One other thing, if you haven't done so already get this builder to show you several properties that he has completed already preferably ones that are a few years old to see how they are bearing up.
