Places do look lovely decorated and sparkly. Helps to brighten up the drab days at this time of year. My first Christmas here 20 odd years ago was very depressing as there wasn't a light or sparkle in sight .
I must admit I do like Christmas, even though it's gone OTT in the UK.

I still luv Christmas too all be it a simple one whilst living here in Turkey. As you say Sunny the uk has gone completely OTT at this time of the year.My tree goes up every year carrying fond memories of my mum n i dressing the tree as a child, then as i grew up it was solely my job until she sadly passed away 5 years ago.I would'nt be without my tree with it's little decorations from years goneby and the treasured memories that go along with it,

Merry Christmas n a Guid New Year to all at Turkey Central
