İstanbul’s Metrobus central command is located in Kağıthane.

İstanbul's Metrobus network, on which hundreds of thousands of İstanbulites travel every day, is controlled centrally from a command center that looks little like a space station. This station opened its doors for the first time ever to the press, namely to Today's Zaman.

The Metrobus network is monitored remotely from here by hundreds of video cameras throughout the network. This allows any problems that arise to be responded to instantaneously. However, this central station was not planned only for the Metrobus system; from next year onwards, all of the observation and supervision of all the buses throughout the city will be monitored from here.

The Metrobus system is very popular with İstanbul residents for a variety of different reasons, especially that it runs on a dedicated bus lane and is not affected by traffic, it is speedy, has interconnecting routes, and has a good safety record. Of course, this doesn't mean some people don't have complaints about the system such as people sometimes feeling like they are packed in like sardines, or the occasional Metrobuses that break down.........

The metrobus is brilliant, it is a really fast way to get around the city.
We only had one bad driver once who was accelerating and then braking hard, then accelerating and braking hard - it was weird, I don't know why he was driving like that, it wasn't Ramazan or anything - anyway my husband went to the front and took a photo on his phone of the driver's id and license number...........strangely enough he drove more carefully afterwards!!!!
Anyway, they started building the extension to Beylikduzu when were here in Feb, and it should have been finished by Nov, which it won't, but I don't think it's possible to complain about the speed of the construction when you see the distance and the engineering involved......in my home town in England it took 3 years and millions of pounds to make a single carriageway bypass of about a mile!!!!!!! Mind you, the health and safety was a bit more than a bucket with a red flag sticking out next to a sheer drop!!!
Generally thumbs up for the metrobus it's a great asset to Istanbul!

Although where I used to live we had a metroline I only used it once because it was easier to catch the dolmus in the hills down to the city as it would have meant change half way and would have cost me more. However, it was great, as you didn't get held yp with traffic.

I like you Sue was impressed how quickly it was all done considering the things they had to do to get it completed, So I would also give it the thumbs up as well. :)

I believe the extension is now finished.
husband went along the E5 last week and said it was running a test with public passengers, so the stations must be finished.
It ends just by the Tuyap International Fair building, so it's beyond Beylikduzu and just past Beykent.
So there are now 2 lane side roads, 3 lane main roads and the Metrobus lane going each way - that's 12 lanes of traffic!! It's huge!!
