Now there are many different trips you can go ok, I don't know what tour operator you are with but they are usually the ones that are more reliable, however you will find them alot more expensive then the trip shops, there is one called selale tours right next to A101, the guy there is called Mehmet, he speaks near fluent English and is very friendly. I suggest you go there and see if there is anything that takes your interest.

The nearest supermarket is A101 and that's great, its alot like lidle so pretty cheap!

You have the side market on a Saturday, it is nopposite the mosque and if you don't mind walking its a 10 min walk. Manavgat market is the best tho and is on Mondays and thursdys, you can get there by dolmus (bus). Xx

O and BTW with reference to Hamams, no one really cares about there natural tan when they are on holiday, they will do almost anything to get the darkest tan possible, even if it last for a week after they come back. I have seen it all, people using the body butter to help tanning, baby oil, sun oil (all of them should not be used without suntan lotion and i advice not to do it as you are going when its hot). My point is, is that what we were trying to get across was that if you do a hamam before you go home then you will be lighter, this is because they are scrubbing away the dead skin and that is where you are the darkest!

Because i was working in the sun every day and working in a hamam i would get it done every week, my tan did gradually get darker but when i had my scrub i always felt like i was going back to square one because all my dead skin would come off and i would be alot lighter again!

Anyways its worth getting a hamam, the first day or second is the best because then you wont build up a tan on dead skin, it will be new skin and thus preventing peeling. It really does work aswell and is such a great experience for people that have never tried it before :) xx

I agree Swabs going to the hamam is a great experience and every one should try it once. I always feel sooo clean when I come out and totally relaxed.

A great expeerience but best done at the begining of your holiday if you dont want to lose some of your colour unless you live here then it doesnt matter.

Yes you are correct in post 30 I not not use the phrase 'by comparison' But you quoted my post 33 where I did use the phrase 'by comparrison' in your post 35.

I not sure why you have made such a big thing out of a simple comment,. I think we have both said enough about this and obviously we have now both gone off topic. So lets just talk about what else there is to do in Side.

Hi Abi, oh I see - you used the words 'by comparison' in your later post - but you didn't say that in your first post......

I didn't make a big thing out of your single comment - I simply pointed out that you cannot change your skin colour, or remove a natural suntan with a mitt or loofah.Posted Image Doctors will tell you that. Posted Image You see, a suntan is natural pigment - and that cannot be removed by brushing or scrubbing. But if you think otherwise - who am I to disagree?!!!

Going slightly off-topic, when I lived in Turkey Mr L wasn't happy for me to go to a mixed hamam!Posted Image I did sneak off to one without him knowing, once Posted Image , but any time I ever went to one he always insisted I went to a single sex one! You're very lucky that Mr Abi lets you go to a mixed bath - many Turkish men would have a fit! And woe betide there was a male masseur there!Posted Image

Hiya sav36 and welcome to the forum. I expect you probably read a lot of things in this forum to help you. I live in side so anything you would like to know then just ask.

There are many different things to do there, i would suggest you go and look at the ruins and the manavgat waterfall, also the markets are always good to go to. What types of things do you like to do on holiday? When are you going and where are you staying?? xx

Well congrats on your soon to be wedding Sav, Im sure you are very excited about getting married and looking forward to your relaxing break away.

Side star is a very nice hotel in a great location, its very close to the sea and walking distance to the old town so you have picked a very very good choice!! Going in june you will find it is hot, its in the high 30's then so make sure you drink plenty of bottled water. Its very busy as well this time in year as this is when alot of the people come on holiday.

I dont know what nationalities this hotel takes but i will let you know that alot of German and Scandinavian customers come to side to visit so when you book any tours with outside tour operators then i would be very careful, I know the first time i went on one they only spoke German and i couldnt understand anything they say!! However if you just ask them they should be able to tell you or for convenience and ease just book through your tour operator.

Anything else you need to know then dont hesitate to ask as i live in this area so will be able to give you any information i can xx

I think Side in general is a great place for a holiday, excellent beaches and ruins right there inside the town. It seemed a lot less "rowdy" than Kusadasi or Marmaris, at least to me, but other than that it is a rather typical holiday resort.

You can check my album for my Side photos if you want. I've got six pages of photos of Side there, also the Manavgat waterfall. That should give you a good idea what it's like there.

Also im gunna have a look at your photos now aswell Ken, even tho i see it all, its always nice to see other peoples pictures xxx
