It depends on your nationality.

For Greece you won't need a visa Aggie as you are British. For the bike you will need the normal vehicle papers including a green card insurance which you will probably have to get from an insurance company.
By the way, has your Turkish citizenship come through yet?

Hi
Thanx 4 the replies so far. Sunny, I had this idea that the Turkish touring club were involved in issuing these green cards, perhaps I got that wrong! So a visit to my local friendly insurance man is in order. Btw, no not yet, still waiting for the green light!

I forgot about the Turkish Touring Club.
Being Turkey perhaps they are involved whereas in the UK you just need to get a green card from your insurance provider.
Sorry don't know the answer to that one.

You can get a Green Card from the Turkish Touring Club OR from your own insurers. The TTC are also responsible for issuing Carnets De Passage and International Driving Permits if they're required.

Thank you, yes that is indeed the case. My insurer is unable to issue a green card, he refered me to the ERTURK office as they take people across to Greece everyday, I thought that is indeed feasible, so popped round, yes you guessed it, not a cat in hells chance, why on earth would a company that transports people out of the country on a daily basis offer anything so pratical as a green card service, silly idea!!
However, there was some chance of light at the tunnel, apparently there is an agency next to the caravasary opposite the no problem bar (remember that place)that does issue green cards for cars with FOREİGN plates, only not anymore, so there. In conclusion, despite the activity in the town of people wanting to LEAVE cesme (can't think why)no one but NO ONE offers a green card service in Cesme for the would-be island hopper who wants to take their own transport, so it looks like a trip to civilization and Alsancak is in order. Don't you just love this place.................. sometimes!

Despite all the trials and tribulations in getting a Green Card, I am sure you will enjoy your island hopping. We did just a one-island hop to Chios where we spent a lovely week touring the island on a scooter many years ago but we rented one over there so were spared the hassle of getting documentation.
I expect you’ve planned your hopping route but if not this website has been useful to family and friends doing a similar trip.
Hope Alsancak comes up trumps and you enjoy your Greek travels.

Ha Ha dande, tried that one last night, wot,you can't make an itenary more than 4 days in advance.apparently due to their economic woes the greeks are in an even bigger mess than the turks ever were.Shipping companes go bust change ownership, change scheudles faster than most ladies change their underwear. So the moral is just go thie with a green card and get on the first boat and see where it goes, then just repeat that until you end up somewhere that looks ok. then work out how to get back. sounds like fun to me esp on a scooter!
