I spent a week in Side together with my girlfriend, june 18-25. I want to warn everybody not to go on the boat trips from Side harbour to Manavgat and the dolphin tour. They are tourist traps! Both these trips were very boring - the Manavgat river is very dirty and nothing to see. Also, the crew on the ship Calypso VIP were really rude - we made two trips with this ship - and they dumped us, two days in a row, on some beach instead of taking us back to Side harbour with the boat, as was promised. I do recommend the rafting excursion to the mountains however, it was beautiful.

Don't agree with you at all. I did the dolphin boat trip last week and it was
- relaxing
- fun
- no hassle
- spotted 5 x dolphins
- good food on board
- good price
A few weeks ago I did the Manavgat boat trip on a Thursday market day and that too was well worth every penny -
- time out to visit the market for 2 hours
- stop for swim on the way
- food on board the boat was good
Both trips YES there were tourists - but then again, WE are tourists aren't we?! And everyone was polite and seemed to be having fun.
I do agree with you re the white water rafting though ... that is my very favourite trip in Side ... away from the beach scene and a bit cooler than in town up in the Taurus mountains with stunning views - also good value for money.
Next time try the Friday Alanya trip which incorporates the beautiful Dim Cay River where you sit on pontoons in the middle of the river and are served fresh trout and salad for lunch there - also incorporates a trip around the harbour by boat - and a couple of hours at their very colourful market day.
Holidays are what you make of them and whether you see your glass half full or half empty really.

Another view point. As you say Angela some people see the glass half full whilst others see it half empty. Although it can make a difference which boat you take. Some boats are cleaner and have better food than others and have more caring staff.
