It’s no secret that Istanbul is blessed with some of the best local food on the planet, and those who come here from abroad to visit or live are lucky enough to be surrounded by it. But no matter how delicious Turkish cuisine may be, a taste of home remains one of the most valued comforts for foreigners in a different land. Once scarce, the number of small stores and larger supermarkets stocking imported goods in Istanbul is rising, and it is all about knowing where to look.

I was expecting more as well Sunny, but I guess as the cost of importing food tax wise is soo very high it's only the big companies who can afford to do it.

I did notice in another thread that Clinky had been to the Milka Delicatessen that was mentioned in the article. Whilst you can get bacon there "It's 30tl for 10 very streaky Hungarian rashers" but I suppose the article did warn people that imported food was expensive.

Yes - Be under no illusion that if you want something you'll have shell out slightly more. I figure i'll be going home at least 4 times a year so I can't miss anything that much.
