I'll just add to this topic that I found another very good dentist. Her name is Tugce (obviously Turkish) and she speaks very good English. Down to earth and knows what she's doing. You can reach her at: aysetugcetunac at hotmail.

I've also been there -- her name is Birgül Gürbüz -- pretty good. Her husband Zafer (Tel 7126970) is also a dentist & has his own practice in the next building, but we were rather less impressed with him (!!!!!)

Well that's not too bad then heh ! You'd surely have a hard time in the UK getting in to see a dentist in an emergency. Having an appointment is better of course, but there's been times I've just walked in to Birgül's surgery & been lucky enough to be attended to straight away......BTW, she's very gentle ! Geçmiş olsun Sam !

You'd be lucky nowadays to get in straight away without an appointment Meral. She's much busier that she used to be. A lot more people living in Cesme now I suppose.

Be brave Sam. Shall I come and hold your hand? :console[1]: :D

Yes please Sunny!! haha

Yesterday we went there about 2 oclock and there were 5 people waiting in the waiting room some had appointments some were like me and just walked in. Her assistant explained they are very busy so she will just give us all a check up and then we will have to make an appointment. The only problem is she didnt give us a price for the treatment, do anybody know how much she charges to change a filling? xxx

Don't know about changing a filling, as she'd have to take out the old one first which is extra work. The last filling she did for me was 2 years ago and charged 50TL to 72TL. Those prices may have gone up since then. If the filling drops out within a certain time she replaces it free.

With business doing so well lately, she must be making heaps .....but she is good, no doubt about that ! :cok_guzel:

I went there yesterday thinking it was all going to be straight forward take one filling out and replace it but on the bottom left side I have a root problem, I had it treated in the UK a few years ago and she said when she took out the filling she noticed it hadnt been treated properly. So she had to fill the tooth with a temp filling that contained Medicine and I have to go back on Monday for the filling to be put in. I have to give it to her she is a very fast worker.

Meral, the price is really cheap compared to the UK. x

Very glad you're pleased with the service and the prices Sam ! My hubby once had to pay £45 for an emergency extraction in the UK (and that was the cheapest -- other dentists wanted heaps more), but here they'll do it for about 50 -70 lira (depending on the tooth), which is half or less of the UK price. No wonder dental & medical tourism is flourishing !

I hope it all goes well next Monday Sam ! :console[1]:

Glad to hear you are in safe hands and didn't have to take a mortgage out to have your teeth fixed. :)

Aw thank you guys. I can feel your love haha.

I hope it goes well on Monday too as I am so scared of dentists but she is probably one of the nicest dentists I have been to and the fact her english is really good relaxes me a bit too.

Will let you all know how I get on, on Monday :D xxx
