Well the new season is pretty much here so whats new in Dalyan.
Roads: During the Winter the road into Dalyan has been resurfaced, now it is being resurfaced again because of poor quality bricks on the first attempt. This has upset a few as many people felt it didn't need doing in the first place. They have also decided to resurface the old Ortaca road which is probably the road that most needed doing, they are of course doing both at the same time but hopefully within a few weeks both main roads into town will be complete.
Shops and businesses: Many have moved, including ourselves throughout the winter but most noticably is the amount under construction along Ataturk Cad. There is a new building in the Market square, a new one opposite the old Huris Bar, another on the corner by Petrol Ofisi and a large development next to Migros which looks like it will be far from complete by the summer. The Sercan market has closed and been taken over and slightly extended by Sevikoğlu.
The 1st hotel in Dalyan, the Dalyan Hotel, has been knocked down and is planned to become a tea garden as the council own the land. This will make a nice tea garden directly opposite the rock tombs.
I had heard that the market was supposed to move this month, so far this hasn't happened - lets hope it doesn't.
A list of more changes is on the www.evetdalyan.com web site under last months issue.
