Ibo's Cafe Bar is now up and running....located across from the marina next to Seker Market by the roundabout. He has a nice (heated) inside space for the winter and great patio outside for the summer. Quiz night last night...nice turn out...good time had by all!! Another one planned next Saturday. Darts tournament being organized....anyone interested let Ibo know...restaurant telephone number is 712 0314. I think I can safely say that many of us have known Ibo for a very long time and he is a Cesme treasure...and we wish him well!! He has a facebook page...Ibo's cafe-Bar with photos and updates. :beerchug[1]:

That's great news!

I used to live in Cesme, and I can certainly say that Ibo is one of the nicest and most professional people I've ever met. From those who have met Ibo (at his previous place of employment), I think he probably gets more Christmas cards, letters, and e-mails from people around the UK and Europe than anybody in Turkey. Not to mention the expats who know him in Cesme. I certainly wish him well! Next time I go to Cesme to catch the ferry to Chios, I'll check out Ibo's new place.

I can't seem to find Ibo's place on Facebook. If anybody's been there already, what's it like, how are things going so far?

Gosh, I go away for a few days and I miss the most exciting thing to happen this winter.

I'm flying back tomorrow so hope to be there on Saturday.

Good Luck Ibo.

Popped in there for the first time last weekend, makes a serious competitor for the no problem bar, a much brighter and cheery place. The fish n chips and kate n sidney pie were pretty good too. Now why is it that some people can't see progress can be a good thing? He should do well come the summer, if the tourists turn up!

Ibo's will not present competition for the No Problem because Ibo is the one who drew people to the bar and they've all moved with him to his place. Yes, he will do well in the summer but he's not doing too badly now with all his friends supporting his new place. :)

I look forward to visiting Ibo`s new bar in october when I visit Cesme and hope that Toros will be busy enough to keep going at the No Problem Bar. Both Toros and Ibo made the punters welcome in their own way. I do hope that there is enough trade for both establishments to thrive.

Thanks for the link to İbo’s new website, Addie.

Called in yesterday for the first time since our recent return to Çeṣme and his new place looks great. Amazing what he has achieved so far. İbo deserves his own place and everyone who knows him wishes him well I am sure.

We shouldn't forget the part Toros has played at 'No Problem' Bar in welcoming visitors for so many years. I wish him and his family well for the future, too.

I couldn;t open the link in Firefox, either, but all OK with Internet Explorer and Chrome.

I finally got to see Ibo's Place. Let me say first of all that I wish Toros, the owner of No Problem Bar where Ibo used to work, the best in success. Secondly let me say that Ibo is a friend of mine, so I may be a bit biased in my assessment of his new place. I'll try to "call 'em like I see 'em" anyway.

I'd been reading in this forum that Ibo has his own place. So after I got off the Chios ferry, with my new 90-day visa to extend my presence in Turkey, I went directly to Ibo's. All of the other people I know in Cesme were already there. It seems the expats have moved from No Problem to Ibo's Place.

Ibo's Place is at the main traffic circle, on the main harbor (coastal) road. Yes, I know there are two traffic circles along that road--one in front of the castle--that's not the one I'm talking about. You have to go a little further towards the ferry port on the harbor road, to the next traffic circle. On that corner is Ibo's Place. Actually, if you're driving into Cesme and follow the Izmir-Cesme highway to the very end, you'll end up at that traffic circle anyway.

I called Sunny (our favorite moderator) for a bit of good company while I checked out the food at Ibo's place.

My personal observations:

1. Clean. The bathroom is also very clean, something you don't often find in restaurants in Cesme. I heard stories about what the place looked like when Ibo first acquired it, how Ibo had scrubbed everything from top to bottom, including the ceiling tiles. With Ibo, that doesn't surprise me.

2. Ibo is serious! Ibo broods over quality, and makes sure everything is right. He engages and listens to his customers. I'd bet he lies awake at night wondering about what he can improve in his restaurant.

3. The menu reflects what people want. Fish and Chips? Icelandic Cod? Who'd've thunk it? Well, Now Ibo has the only place in Cesme where you can get a decent plate of fish and chips. That is, until everybody else sees how successful he is and copies his menu. I'll give that a month or two, max. But they'll never replace Ibo's personality and friendliness. In spite of all of his hard work, I think Ibo could have moved to a place much worse and still had loyal customers.

4. Great location and layout. He's at a main traffic intersection. He's also got an outdoor eating area both at the front and the back, as well as two main rooms which can be used in winter or during inclement weather.

I am delighted to see that Ibo has launched his own restaurant/cafe/bar.

If you're ever in Cesme, pay Ibo's place a visit, if only to say hello. You'll see what I mean. I've included some photos of Sunny and me having dinner (fish and chips!) at Ibo's place. Here they are:

Our large extended family have been visiting us over the past six weeks (about five more days to go) and occasionally overlapping so there have been up to 12 people in the house with 50% of them 13 years of age and under!

It’s been a great time with most days spent at one of the many superb beaches around here and visits to exciting water parks.

It was, however, essential to give Ms dande a break from the domestic and culinary duties and we have eaten out on maybe 10 evenings – six of those at İbo‘s Cafe bar with up to 12 covers.

These evenings at İbo’s can only be described as faultless. Superb food beautifully presented, excellent service and (unusually in Çeşme in my experience) all meals served almost simultaneously.

Well done İbo, Hatice and other staff and friends for memorable evenings. Keep up the good work. Ms dande and I and all our family have really enjoyed their evenings with you and wish you continuing success for the future.
