We have been camel wrestling today which was interesting to say the least! It was at Tire (pronounced Tear ray) and we arrived at around 10.30am. Sunday 13th February 2011.
Our friend Pauline drove in their car, journey took about 2 hours, but some quite interesting sites on the way.
The place was full of huge camels and the noise was deafening, not from the camels but from the people!
There were the Turkish version of fast food places all round and musicians (if you can call them that - in fact a drummer and some sort of wind instrument player which sounded like a strangled cat) coming round all the tables serenading you for money whether you liked it or not!
The proceedings started with the Last Post for some strange reason, followed by the National Anthem, then a prayer followed by a poor sheep being sacrificed (Jill looked the other way).
Then two camels were led into the ring and proceeded to wrestle each other for a bit.
I have no idea who won or who lost but quite a few times they had to be prised apart by a team of men on each camel!
Not one single camel got hurt which was good and after around 10 bouts we began to lose interest.
We left at around 2.00 but it was certainly an experience.
The day started slightly overcast but then the sun came out and it was really quite warm sitting watching the bouts.

I have already downloaded the photo's onto Facebook if you are interested.

Yes camel wrestling is always good fun and they never get hurt because they are worth so much money. You just have to make sure you don't sit downwind of the ring because of the flying spit! :yuk[1]: :yuk[1]: :yuk[1]:
