Have you ever read a sign 'ekmek sarayı' and checked it just to end up thinking how you could combine these words? No, it is not your fault, it realy meant 'palace'. But as you see, in Turkey breads are not baked in palaces but in bakeries like any other reasonable corner of the world..

Once we had a more humble list of shops: fırıncı for bakery, kebapçı for kebap shops, and so on..
It seems we need more than a palace in these days and replace it with 'world' : a whole world , for instance, a world full of shoes, or cloths, or anything you like..No I'm not talking about the Wonderland of Alice, just to let you know that when you see 'dünyası' -world of- something, the name is placed there following the trend; thankfully, shoes are sold at shops of normal size and we still bake the breads and 'simit's where they are supposed to be...

Thanks for that Saffron. It's good to know that it's just a trend. :)
