Happy New Year!
How can you say this to your Turkish friends?
First, a long sentence mostly used in written celebration: 'Yeni yılınız kutlu olsun'. Kutlu can be translated as 'blessed'
Mutlu yeni yıllar: happy new year. In this expression year -yıl- is used in plural form. Singular, 'mutlu yeni yıl' is never used.
Instead of yıl, you can hear someone saying 'mutlu yeni seneler. Sene also means year, though a bit old fashioned.
Shortly and simply you can say: mutlu yıllar or iyi seneler.
