Istanbul Weather

Istanbul has hot, dry summers and cold, blustery and wet winters. The hottest months are in July and August, while the coldest months are in January and February. Snow is rare. The best time to travel to Istanbul is in Spring and Autumn. In Spring, flowers (especially Tulips) blossom and paint the city in vivid hues, as various festivals take place and tourists begin to pour into the city. In Summer, many Istanbullians head south to the Aegean or Mediterranean beaches to escape the summer heat. In Autumn, more comfortable weather returns, but the nights can be cool, so take a jacket if you're going to be out late.
