Dolphins Should Be Classed As Non Human Persons

Dolphins are so intelligent that they should be thought of as ‘non-human persons’ and given their own bill of rights, it is claimed.
A coalition of scientists, philosophers and animal welfare groups have come up with a declaration of dolphin rights which they hope will one day be enshrined in law.
This would stop them being kept in zoos and waterparks, and being attacked by fishermen.

Bodybuilding / Sports Supplements Business?

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to find out what are the current requirements on importing supplements such as protein (powder), creatine (powder), amino acid (pills), vitamins (pills/ capsules) etc etc.

I'm currently in the UK, and wish to send over some stock as my relatives are finding it difficult to get a hold of products, and the ones they find seem to be very over-priced so I assumed there is a Market for the stuff if I can send to wholesalers.

I'm in the whole sports supplements industry over here so I know exactly what documents I require at this end to retail, ive even contacted logistics companies and identified what paperwork is required (sorted that also).

The problem ive encountered is my logistics company has made it clear "it's up to you to find out the restrictions/ paperwork/ permission for entering turkey, as their laws may not be the same as ours"

I've sent several emails to Turkish customs and government import sections with no reply. If anyone could give me a bit of info I'd appreciate it grately.

Thanks in advance.

15 Year Old, Engaged Or Not?

15 year old comes from Turkish family, very very strict and traditional (not like my other Turkish students, a lot more strict).
After half term holiday she is now wearing a very pretty and very delicate gold ring. It is heart shaped with some white zirconias stones. She is wearing it on wedding ring finger BUT right hand not left hand.
Asked her is she bought the pretty ring in Turkey, became very defensive and seemingly very angry and said "don't know it was a present"..
I am her teacher and normally get on well with her, don't quite understand her aggressive reaction.
Could the ring be an engagement ring?
She is only 15....
Have I got anything to be worried about for her welfare?
Many thanks for the answer.

Cosmetics Stores In Ankara?

Hello everyone! I know there are two M.A.C Cosmetics stores listed on the maccosmetics.com webpage but has anyone ever been to them or seen one? I am curious to know about these stores as I am a makeup artist by trade and it would be VERY expensive for me to obtain the cosmetics outside of Turkiye.

Do you know of any other retailers of high end cosmetics? Please share your info with me! I would love to learn more about where to shop for my favorite items!

Thanks so much!

Divorce In Turkey

Hello Members,

I am new to Turkish Central Forum and here is my story:

I met an amazing Turkish man 5 years ago in Turkey. I am English.
We have been living together in Turkey for the past 4 years now and I have been travelling back to England every few months to visit family and friends.

We would now like to get married but the problem is he was married before to an English lady and he needs to divorce in Turkey as they got married in Turkey and have only divorced in UK. (marriage was also regisitered in UK)

He has been in touch with the English lady and asked for A Power Of Attorney becuase his lawyer in Istanbul advised him this is what he needs but she refuses and now the lawyer is at the moment processing a RECOGNITION OF A FOREIGN DIVORCE through the Turkish court. The lawyer explained to us it means that the ex gets sent out papers asking her to appear in court in Turkey and if she does not appear then they get sent out again and again then after so many times the judge in Turkey makes a decision and it should be over. Problem is we do not know how long this will take. The Lawyer is unable to give us an answer. Has anyone been in the same situation or do they know anyone else who has and how long it took?

I would like to get married Christmas 2012 and I hope it will be over before then. From what the lawyer has said the first set of papers were sent to England in December 2011. There has been no response.

I am currently in the UK visiting my mother for her birthday and will return to Turkey in April.

Thank you very much for reading my story.
