Gumusluk

Gumusluk, 40 minutes from Bodrum by dolmus on the westernmost tip of the Bodrum peninsula, is arguably the nicest holiday resort in the area.

Gumusluk is quieter and less-developed, since it sits on and near the ancient city of Myndos, which has caused the Turkish government to restrict the construction of hotels and other tourist facilities which so overwhelm other holiday towns.

Gumusluk is frequented by yacht owners, because of its deep and well-protected harbor next to Tavsan Adasi (Rabbit Island), which is a small island accessible by wading from the shore. The Island is populated by rabbits, which are actually quite shy and normally only come out at night.

Along the shore south of Rabbit Island is a one kilometer sand and gravel beach which is less protected, but pleasant, with a variety of watersports available there.

Gumusluk has a fair share of pansiyons and more expensive hotels, as well as good restaurants. Those near the waterfront, however, are quite expensive since they mainly cater toward the yacht crowd.
