Motorbiking

We have had a second home in Turkey for about 5 or 6 years.

It has taken all this time to sort out the house buying the house, curtains, furniture, air conditioning fitted etc.

On top of this the house has had to have all the roof tiles replaced and has had to be repainted on the outside and most of the inside ceilings on the top floor have had to be repainted (the wind in the winter blew the roof hatch off and all rain water came through the ceiling).

Each time we come we end up without transport, although we do hire a car for odd days, usually to go and get shopping or diy stuff for the house.

I cant believe how long it has taken to sort the house out, so much for a Place in the Sun. However, we do leave the house, and do all the work ourselves when we go out to Turkey. When we bought the house we were both in well paid jobs, now only one of us is working and thats in a low paid job, so everything is done on the cheap. There is the pool to clean and fill and the house has a large garden, so we get up very early before the sun comes up and use a sythe on the wild grasses.

Anyway, fed up with walking everwhere, when we are in Turkey, I decided to investigate getting a moped and what UK things I would have to do so I could ride in Turkey.

Transpires that I need a full uk motorbike licence just to ride anything over 50cc in Turkey. I cant believe it ... you see people
with the whole family on their mopeds and the standard of riding seems to be quite low in Turkey, but I need the best UK licence for a moped (I only want to get my shopping, but its very hilly where we are, so a 50cc isnt much use).

Anyway, Ive passed my UK motorbike theory test and both me and my partner bought a 125cc Honda motorbike in the UK, so we could practice to pass our test. However, I cant find time away from my 2 internet websites to practice and he's progressed to riding it the 15 mile round trip into work each day. Ive bought a uk helmet to take with me next time as we hired a moped for £8 a day last time (when we hired, they were only interested in the fact we had a full car licence).

Ok, its definitely not the same as back in the U.K. car drivers generally have a blind spot with those of us who prefer two wheels. Been living over here for just over 15 years and use a small (150cc) scooter at the weekends and during holidays. I'm looking for something thats a lot bigger and more rapid, don't know if I want an enduro, sports tourer, or even (god protect me)a proper sports bike. despite my advancing years I am leaning towards the latter, which off course is totally silly, but what the hell, you only live once. Any ideas where I can start looking for a half decent second hand bike?
