About Ken

Turkey Central is owned by me, Ken Grubb, an American who came to Turkey, with the United States Air Force, in 1998. I was a Special Agent with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, Detachment 523, Izmir. I took the assignment because it was just 15 months long, and I had planned to return to San Diego, California, when my tour (and my 21-year military career) was up. I never went back to the US after I experienced Turkey.

Don't laugh too hard, but I expected deserts, camels, and veiled women when I first arrived. I had also seen the movie "Midnight Express," which I later learned was far more fiction than fact. After seeing the real Turkey, and experiencing the hospitality and friendliness of the Turks, I realized how rediculous my previous conceptions of Turkey actually were.

My mission today is to educate the world about Turkey, and help those who want to visit or live in Turkey. Obviously I can't do this alone, so there is a Turkey forum here where anybody can help. I can certainly say the members and moderators there are the friendliest and most helpful people you could possibly find in any forum about Turkey, or about anything else, for that matter.
